Hinton 1959 Mack B 61 Delux

Floyd Hinton of th' Nostalgia Car Klub in Yuma has a beachin' `59 Mack truck. This is the sketch, art work will be air brushed in color. Detail to be done in Prismacolor marker and tech pen.
Mr. Hinton also has a sweet custom trike... I may just do a graphic of that & send it to him as a su-prize. Fink on bruthaz & sistaz !

Boop Fink - Generic Ink

"Made of pen and ink, she's a foxy lit-tle Fink ! Ain't she cute,

Boo Boop - be - Doop, [Betty] Boop Fink !"

The original customer was not satisfied with the sketches I sent her

for her "Boop Fink." I'll see her in June and hopefully bang out an

agreement on a finished piece of art for her.

At any rate, here is the generic ink of th' Boop. I will have prints

of this to air brush and ink in more details tomorrow. May just

get a colored example finished this week end.

I kinda like her. She is Boop-ish without being an exact copy.

I'm not keen on gettin' sued. I just couldn't bring myself to do

a horrible monster type Boop. This one comes off pretty well,

I think.

The color versions will be sooo kewl...

I can hardley wait.

Boop Fink - a - Doop !

B. Kirkham of Manti, Utah axked me to Fink out her 1954 Chevy 4 door @ last years R.F. Reunion. She is a Betty Boop fan, so naturally there HAD to be a Boop Fink driving.

I went for "sassy" & not "scary" cuz, well... Its Betty Boop for kryin' out loud !! Above is the
sketch. I'll send off some contact sheets for approval on Monday. Too bad she wants this in B&W, it would look sooo kewl in kolor !


I suppose this could actually be more of a "Betty Boob" than a "Boop," but I don't want to hear any noise from the copyright holder so I changed her up a bit. I think shez kinda hawt - for a cartoon that is...

I didn't go too wild with the power plant either. One, the angle the car is in; it's more nose up than some of the others I've drawn in the past, thus presenting less of an area to render a monster engine. I wanted to kinda tone down the Finkness in this drawing for the customers sake and for respect for the character driving this crate ! I like th' Boop too...

Just a prelem idea for th' headers. I am already thinking about changing them up a bit. There will also be a huge, smokin' drag slick in the rear, and plenty of flames in the finished product.

This one will be fun... I hope I get the green light to finish it soon. - RatzO

The Nordin `23 Ford Touring Car au Fink-bay !

Well kiddiez, the deal is finally done ! This here is th' the final drawing for the Yuma car club. I must say, the folks have been real kind to me - so, Thanxz a ton for your patience and support !This is th' finked out version of Mr. Nordin's `23 ford. The body style is of the four door Touring Car, though I believe the construction is actually fiber glass.

There is a Viking Fink at the wheel & a lil' goon hanging on for dear life in th' back. This rod is so fast, it ripped all of his cloths off except for his boots ! One wild ride - to be sure !

Kustom extras: A Von Dutch radiator cap and a "Budz Sudz" bottle shifter knob. Swarm of flies, no extra charge.


On this drawing, I decided to use the actual engine instead of a replacement, or a highly modified version. I was able to get some good detailed shots of the motor, plus it looks pretty kewl as is, so I used it.

Viking Fink (one of many...) in all his glory. He'z groovin' so hard, hiz eyes are crossed ! Live free, drive fast, have fun and leave a good lookin' corpse !

Goon. Poor lil' guy. VF is driven' so nutty, this lil' dude fell right out th' back. Maybe they can go back for hiz cloths at least... I'm just sayin' !

Smoke & flames. No fink picture is complete without gobs of this stuff. Just remember folks: "Speed, a strange and tragic magic."

There is still a lot more to come - I'm not dead yet so I have to keep makin' "art."

Nordin 1923 Ford Touring Car - Kustom Fink

Here is the sketch for the last of the 2008 "Midnight At The Oasis" jobz. The actual car is metal flake gold. This should not take long to ink... I'm not sure what else to add to this one. Check out the finished drawing in the next post. Later - RatzO

Sundell's 1931 Ford Sedan compleated !

P. Sundell's 1931 Ford Sedan. This was a fun one to work on. Came up with a couple of NEW characters. Rat Biz-kit, and Helmet Hawk. The Nordin `23 - T is in the drawing phase right now. I might even get it finished before this years show. Don't shoot me, I'm just sayin'...!

"Helmet Hawk" (Copyright -2009 Screw Brain Graphics/RatzO) Since the Winged Flying Eyeball is not mine to use, (Von Dutch came up with it a long time ago) and the copyright is held by another individual, I am working on different images that will work to the same effect. HH is a dumpy lil' bird wearing a monocle and beat up German helmet. He is need of a shave but that doesn't stop him, he's still whistling "Dixie!" (No, really ! That is the tune he's singing!)

Our driver for this rod is, Rat Biz-kit. Rat Biz-kit loves to race... Actually he just loves to drive fast, racing is just an excuse. ("Rat Biz-kit" Copyright - 2009 Screw Brain Graphics/RatzO) From his feindish grin to the drool off his tongue, and the gleam in his eyes, Rat Biz-kit is a Drag Lover from way back. Fink on people, th' RAT is where it's at !

Double superchargers and a big chrome air scoop top off this mill. Rat Biz-kit needs a tire change every time he backs out of th' drive way !

To "illustrate" my point, just look at these beauties. Even th' front wheels are smokin' ! He must have stock in Good Year or somethin' !

of SPEED Shop back in Yuma, Arizona. It's a knarly mill man!

One moe fow th' Road !

The Nostalgia Car Club in Yuma, Arizona has some real sweet rodz. Mr. Statzer has a butter yellow, flamed `32 Ford Coupe. This is th' Finked out version I did of it. Sketch awaiting approval. Th' ink will flow when I hear, "Go!"


Monster Rod Jockey - I'm trying some different stuff with th ' drivers. Ed Newton did a LOT of work for Mr. Roth @ his Studio in May wood, Cal. in th' 60's. I don't ever want to be accused of "copying" someone else's art work - style maybe, but not an outright copy of some other dude's work. I want to capture th' "Ed Roth" finky feel of the old time shirt art though. There is a particular "fun" feel to the work produced by Roth Studios, and I want to keep that going. Good things don't HAVE to end !

Funky, highly modified Flat Head motor. I used 3 different photos to make this engine. I should be @ th' drawing table tomorrow - let you know what kind O' madness I come up with then... - RatzO

Old kit art makes a come back !

Back in early summer, I met a girl that really wanted the original sketch I did of this. I am working on a re-pop of the kit, (Limited edition No. 2,398 of 2,500. ) and wanted to see what the modifications I was planning for it would look like - so I did a drawing of it. To cut to th' chase, she was begging me for it !



Due to the fact that I was not finished using th' sketch/rough drawing, I promised her I would draw her one of her very own when I got finished with the original.


Well, while I was back down south in September, I had a chance to make good my promise. This was about the only thing I had a chance to work on for the whole 3 weeks, this and the hot rod pepper. That was a real bummer, because I wanted to get some of my earlier commitments going, but I'm working on them now. If you look at this in the large format you will notice the copyright date for the kit, it is actually supposed to be 1965. What was I thinking?

Anyway, I was hoping she would like it when I gave it to her...

And, she did!
